Found another W15 with a paper spider.   This one here is from a previous speaker, the restoration of which can be seen here.     W15CS-TJ

The intent was to replace the spider without removing the magnet.  The spider was to be cut into 4 sections and each section trimmed to leave a gap between the sections.  Also, due to the cup, it would have to be installed inverted.

The magnet was eventually removed due to not being able to trim the residue from the apex of the cone.

The bright line around the coil form was not noticed for what it was.  Initially, it appeared to be a discoloration but was later discovered to be a weak point, which later cracked possibly when removing shims.  When running an impedance check, buzzing was heard around 200hz.

The worn coil form edge was buffed with 320 grit sandpaper rolled into a cylinder.

Another view of the rough coil form edge.

The polished coil form edge and the J.B.Weld epoxy used to fix the crack.  It was applied all around and on both sides and also secures the spider to the coil form and the cone apex.

The black line is the top of the coil.  The Xmax is about 4mm.  Despite how it looks, there is no magnet to cone contact until the cone is depressed about 5mm.

The inside of the form is blurred to to the image distance from the camera being a few inches.

This one taken diametrically across from the previous photo.
